Many horses were exported from Okinawa to China and other countries.
Ryukyu Horse Racing umaharashi, a traditional culture of the Ryukyu archipelago
that has been practiced for about 300 years since the Ryukyu Kingdom,
was temporarily discontinued due to the war,
but was revived in 2013 for the first time in about 70 years.
At the competition, horses from all over the prefecture gather to compete
for the beauty of their running as one.
The eight horses are industrious, diligent, and striving forward,
symbolizing people's steady progress toward success.
Many weapons were devised from small Okinawan horses.
